1. Product Description
The Hanging Wooden Butterfly House is a handcrafted outdoor garden accessory designed to provide a safe resting and sheltering spot for butterflies. Built from high-quality natural wood with a rustic plank construction, the house features a teardrop silhouette with vertical entry slots sized specifically for butterfly access, while keeping out larger insects and predators.
The unit comes complete with a jute hanging rope and metal carabiner clip for easy installation on tree branches, pergolas, fence posts, or garden hooks — no tools required. A circular back door panel opens for easy cleaning and maintenance of the interior. A small built-in feeding tray at the base accommodates a glass or plastic dish for providing water or sugar solution to visiting butterflies.
Designed as both a functional garden wildlife habitat and a decorative garden ornament, the butterfly house suits cottage gardens, wildflower gardens, butterfly gardens, and naturalistic outdoor spaces. It makes an appealing gift for gardeners, nature enthusiasts, and anyone looking to attract and support pollinators.
2. Features & Benefits
Butterfly-Specific Entry Slots
The front face features multiple narrow vertical entry slots sized to allow butterfly access while keeping out larger insects, wasps, and predatory birds. The slot design provides butterflies with a safe, sheltered resting and overwintering space.
High-Quality Natural Wood Construction
Constructed from solid natural wood planks with a rustic layered finish. The wood provides natural insulation to maintain a stable microclimate inside the house — warm enough for butterflies to shelter during cooler periods without overheating in direct sun.
Easy to Hang — Jute Rope + Carabiner
Comes with a pre-attached jute hanging rope and metal carabiner clip. Simply loop over a branch or hook and clip to hang — no drilling, no tools, and no permanent installation required. Can be repositioned seasonally to optimize for butterfly activity areas.
Built-In Water Feeding Tray
A small feeding platform at the base of the house includes a recessed tray (glass/plastic dish included or optional — confirm with supplier) for holding a small amount of water or diluted sugar solution. This provides butterflies with a convenient water source alongside shelter.
Back Door for Easy Cleaning
A circular back panel opens via a central screw/pivot, providing full access to the interior for cleaning out debris, old nesting material, or dead insects at the end of each season. Regular cleaning helps maintain the house as an attractive habitat year after year.
Decorative Garden Ornament
The teardrop shape, natural wood grain, and rustic plank layering give the butterfly house strong visual appeal as a garden decoration — attractive even when unoccupied. Suitable for hanging in visible garden positions, on patios, balconies, or near flowering plants.
Suitable as a Gift
Packaged as a standalone product, it is well-suited for gifting to gardeners, nature lovers, parents setting up wildlife gardens with children, and eco-conscious homeowners. Particularly relevant as a gift around spring planting season and garden-themed occasions.

4. Care Instructions
• Hang in a sheltered garden location with partial shade — avoid positioning in full direct sun for extended periods, as this can dry out and crack the wood over time.
• At the end of the butterfly season (late autumn), open the back door and remove any debris, dead insects, or old nesting material from the interior. Clean with a dry brush.
• Do not use chemical cleaning agents inside the house — residues may deter butterflies or harm sensitive insect life.
• Periodically apply a natural wood oil or outdoor wood preservative to the exterior to extend the lifespan of the wood and protect against moisture and UV damage.
• Refresh the water in the feeding tray every 1–2 days to prevent stagnant water and mosquito breeding.
• In severe winter weather or when not in use for extended periods, bring the house indoors or store under cover to prevent waterlogging and wood splitting.
• Inspect the hanging rope annually for signs of wear or fraying. Replace the jute rope if it shows signs of deterioration.
